R Lawson Gamble has created an interesting group of characters and imaginative take on native myths, overall an interesting premise. Unfortunately flawed by The narrator Thomas Block. Sentences, paragraphs don't flow naturally and poor differentiation of characters, confusing. The quality of the written story is five star. Award-winning author R Lawson Gamble lives and writes in Los Alamos on the Central Coast of California. In addition to his Zack Tolliver, FBI series he published Los Alamos Valley with Arcadia Press and Payu's Journey, an analogical journey through the eyes of Australian animals. The Dark Road by R Lawson Gamble is an eye-opener from the first few paragraphs and continues as a page turner until the conclusion. Gamble, using solid descriptions, wit, and keen humor, is able to quickly develop characters, in this case FBI, Navajo Tribal Police, Navajo Lore (think Supernatural), and locals to create solid interpersonal relationships that engage the reader.
